Rhubarb Meringue Pie

3 cups rhubarb cut in one inch lengths

1/4 teaspoon soda
3 eggs
1 and 1/2 cups sugar

3 tablespoons water

1/2 cup sugar

Put a layer of rhubarb in a saucepan and sprinkle with sugar, to which the soda has been added, continue adding layers of rhubarb and sugar until all of both ingredients have been used. Cook until tender over a low flame; add the beaten egg yolks and pour into a baked pie shell. Make a meringue by directions given in this book, using egg whites, water and sugar. Pile lightly on rhubarb mixture and brown in 275 degree oven.
