Boiled Icing
INGREDIENTS
BOILED ICING
2 cups sugar 2/3 cup water
1 teaspoon baking powder
2
egg whites
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
RECIPE
Dissolve sugar and baking powder in water
over a slow fire, cover closely and boil rapidly until syrup spins a
thread. Cool slightly and pour slowly over stiffly beaten whites of
eggs, beating constantly; add flavoring and spread thickly over cold
cake.
