INGREDIENTS

TWO EGG CAKE
1/2 cup shortening     3 cups flour
1and1/2 cups sugar     3 teaspoons baking powder
1 cup milk             1/2 teaspoon salt
2 eggs                 1/2 teaspoon lemon

1/2 teaspoon vanilla

RECIPE

Cream the shortening and add one-half of the sugar. Add the remaining sugar to the unbeaten egg yolks and beat until light. Combine mixtures. Sift flour, salt and baking powder together several times and add to first combination, alternating with the milk. Fold in the beaten egg whites and bake in two large layer pans in an oven at 375 degrees. When cold put together with any desired icing
